Sit. Stay. Pray…
Victoria, AUSTRALIA – Bronson, an 11 year old champion obedience dog, is the new poster dog for obedience training! His owners were recently astounded when he came home with a copperhead snake firmly wrapped around his snout. Luckily, Bronson had been trained not to move his head while carrying anything he had retrieved. So he just sat there, calmly, while:
Ms Allen (his owner) found a chaff bag and lowered it to the ground, pulling the bag up and over the snake while at the same time releasing its body which remained wrapped around Bronson’s snout.
“And as soon I said ‘Give’ he dropped it right into the bag and we sealed up the ends.”
With the snake safely in the bag, Bronson was rushed to his local veterinary clinic, where he received an anti-venom treatment. Four days later the black Lab was back at home!
Peter Gibbs, president Australia Veterinary Association:
“Dog owners should avoid snake-prone areas.”
Has anyone else noticed that there is frequently, usually, always a Labrador Retriever involved in stories like this? Curious, non?
