How often do you get the chance to crawl in the mud with your dog (see below) or run in Lake Champlain with your dog (see above)? Exactly…NOT OFTEN ENOUGH! So, for the third year in a row we will be participating in The Green Mountain Iron Dog. From GMID:
Iron Dog is a 1.5 mile obstacle course competition based on what Police K9 handlers experience during a real life deployment. It is open to the public to compete and observe.
In Year 1 our goal was just to complete the 1.5 mile course. We were successful. We also managed to come in last in a field of about 50 teams (They sent someone out to look for us…but that’s another story.) In Year 2 our goal was to “not come in last”. We were also successful, but, we came in last in our category…the AARP Women. (If someone hadn’t taken a pit stop enroute…well, who knows.) So with all this behind us, and because some of us will be celebrating the big “60” this year we have set the bar extremely high. Our lofty goal is: “Not to come in last in our category”. I believe that it can be done.
Roxy believes that training is the solution. Stay tuned!
