Stampeding cows kill dog walker.
A woman in Chippenham was killed by stampeding cows while walking her Lab. Mrs. Sandra Wiltshire and her Lab, Bruce were walking through the field when the belligerent bovines attacked. According to friends she had been using the field to walk for over twenty years. Mrs. Wiltshire was declared dead at the scene.
The fields where Mrs Wiltshire died are on the banks of the River Avon and an official footpath runs through the top.
“She was brave and not stupid. There was no way Bruce was antagonising those cows. He was a plodder. If anything happened to Bruce Sandra would have rescued him.”
The following day, a man was also injured by cows while walking his dog. A local emergency worker:
‘The man had been walking his dog across the field when the cows suddenly charged, trampling and kicking him before he managed to escape
And finally. A runner
went arse over tip was knocked off his feet by a charging dog in Skipton Woods. The dog, was running off leash at the time.
A spokesman for the Woodland Trust, which oversees the development of Skipton Woods, said dogs should be adequately trained and should behave properly if let off a lead.
Two cow attacks and one dog attack would make for one great episode of Midsomer Murders.
