Montreal council tries to come up with new animal control bylaw…fails
Working on the theory that something seriously stupid is better than nothing, the city of Montreal has come up with the following:
According to the supposed draft, a dog would be considered dangerous if they caused “an abrasion to the skin.” Pet owners would be given 24 hours to find a pet behavior expert and file an appeal, or the dog would be slated for euthanasia.
Because it’s real easy to do this in 24 hours…
Clarifying the situation:
Maybe the people [outside] are afraid about what we are going to have go into the document, so many of those people have been consulted,” said Richard Deschamps, one of Mayor Gerald Tremblay’s main lieutenants. (Ed: see above photo)
The SPCA says they were not consulted.
(Editorial note: These clowns have a hard time filling in potholes. They really aren’t qualified to be making life and death decisions about dogs.)
