When Lynda Diehl turned up for work this week, she must have felt “Hey I’m here, isn’t that good enough?” Alas, some days just turning up doesn’t cut it. Ms. Diehl, a former bank manager, became head of Pennsylvania’s Dog Law Enforcement Office just over 13 months ago in spite of having no background or experience with animal welfare issues. How did this work out you wonder? Not great. From one of the advisory board members:
“They made a terrible mistake when they made that choice,” said Hickey, referring to Diehl. “She didn’t understand the issues; she didn’t understand enforcement. The head of dog law needs to know the subject matter because it impacts living things.”
During her tenure:
Records show the enforcement office didn’t revoke or suspend a single license in 2011, while most commercial kennels received only one inspection last year — not the two required by law.
But wait…there’s more. She has been reassigned. The former bank manager has been appointed administrator in the Corrections Department. 🙂 Perfect…
