A portrait of artist Jamie Wyeth’s dog Kleberg recently sold at Christie’s Auction House for five times the pre-sale estimate. The new unidentified owner was able to purchase this master piece for an amazing $218,500!* The portrait of Wyeth’s yellow Lab was done in gouache, watercolour and india ink. If you think that the circle around the eye is familiar, well, Wyeth was a fan of the “Little Rascal” and painted the mark on his dog as a joke.
If you and your dog are going to the Vatican in the near future, your dog can enjoy a nice cool drink while you enjoy the fine art work on a local fountain. The drawing is based on a Caravaggio painting.
