Honey, the black Lab is the newest member of the Calgary Fire Department. Bucking the tradition of a Dalmatian at the fire house, the radicals at the Calgary FD went with a black Lab (great choice!). Honey has been trained to sniff out accelerants to determine if a fire was arson. Like a good neighbour, State Farm picked up the cost of Honey’s specialized training in Maine. Encana Corp. is committed to providing for the day to day expenses for Honey. Win/win!

FYI: Windsor Fire & Rescue explains why Dalmatians were always the dog of choice for fire departments.

Good choice. Dalmatians have so many genetic problems today that it isn’t worth it to try to select a puppy and train it.
I blame Disney.
